Millsaps Basketball Recap: Men’s team loses to Oglethorpe and Berry while Women’s team splits weekend games

This weekend, the Millsaps Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams played a set of home games against Oglethorpe College and Berry College.

The Women’s Basketball team fell to Oglethorpe on Friday night by a final score of 65-56. The game was tied after three quarters, but Oglethorpe pulled away in the fourth quarter outscoring the Majors 22-13. Millsaps was lead by Dia Fortenberry, who scored 15 points in 25 minutes.

On Sunday, the Women’s Basketball team responded from the loss with a 68-43 victory over Berry College. The Majors got off to a big lead early and never let up, leading 26-15 after the first quarter and 47-23 at halftime. Megan Donaldson scored 15 points in 17 minutes to lead Millsaps in scoring. The Majors won’t have to wait long to see either Oglethorpe or Berry again, as they play both schools again next weekend on the road.

The Men’s Basketball team lost at home on Friday night to Oglethorpe by a final score of 63-56. The Majors led by one point at halftime, but got outscored 34-26 in the second half. They were led by Michael Sullivan, who scored 16 points in 33 minutes.

On Sunday, the Men’s Basketball team lost to Berry 90-79. They were led by Joshua Miller who scored 19 points in 27 minutes. The team also plays Oglethorpe and Berry again next weekend on the road.

Following this weekend’s games, the Women’s Basketball team has a record of 6-12 and the Men’s Basketball Team has a record of 4-14.
