Welcome to Ask Emily, where I give my opinions on anything you want to hear. This week I discuss my decision to go to Millsaps, ducks and how many steps I have taken today. Have a question for me and want to possibly see it answered in a future edition of the P&W? You can submit your questions here: www.emilyopinions.tumblr.com/ask. Happy asking!
Q: What made you choose Millsaps?
I’m from Shreveport, Louisiana, and I was one of those kids who proclaimed that I was not going to a school in my state. But I also did not want to be too far away from home, so I applied to schools all over the South— in Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, as well as Mississippi. My father and high school guidance counselor were the ones who originally encouraged me to apply to Millsaps. When I initially visited Millsaps, I thought it was too small (though I partially credit that to my brothers only looking at huge state schools; of course Millsaps was small in comparison.) I eventually narrowed it down to two private colleges— one being in Texas, one being here— and, to be perfectly honest with you, it was a financial decision. Millsaps gave me way more money. With that being said, I love Millsaps and would not choose anywhere else. Everything works out. The amount of scholarship I received turned out to be a sign of where I needed to go, and I would not trade the Millsaps experience for the world.
Q: Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck?
One horse-sized duck, obviously. There is strength in numbers.
Q: How many steps have you taken today?
Unfortunately, my Fitbit broke, but I would guess not very many. It is a Saturday morning and I am answering these questions shortly after getting out of bed.
Thanks for reading the first edition of Ask Emily, and be sure to submit questions for me to answer in the future!
